Art Therapy with Emily

Hi, I’m Emily, a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) in New York State and the founder of Art Therapy with Emily. I offer individual and group art therapy for adults in Rochester, NY.

I work with adults who feel burnt out, overwhelmed, emotionally overloaded, or disconnected from themselves. You may look like you’re functioning on the outside while feeling anxious, numb, exhausted, or stuck on the inside. Therapy can be a space to slow down, reconnect, and care for what’s been hard to carry alone.

What art therapy can help with

Art therapy uses creative tools like drawing, painting, collage, and journaling to support emotional wellbeing. You do not need to be good at art to benefit.

Art therapy can help you:

  • process burnout, stress, and overwhelm

  • express feelings that are hard to put into words

  • understand patterns, emotions, and needs more clearly

  • reconnect with yourself with more compassion

  • build coping tools and self-trust over time

What sessions are like

Sessions are 50 minutes and move at a pace that feels manageable. Some sessions include art-making, while others focus more on talking, grounding, and reflection. For in-person sessions, I provide supplies. For virtual sessions, I can help you find simple materials to use at home.

My approach

My style is warm, collaborative, and grounded. I want therapy to feel:

  • welcoming

  • nonjudgmental

  • supportive without pressure

  • centered on your pace and your needs
